Making a list and setting goals can lead you on your road to success. In the morning, spend five minutes writing out what you need to accomplish for that day and your overall goal of what you would like to complete. Then prioritize this list by deciding what is most important and what can realistically be done. Once you have finished an item on the list, you can then check it off. There is no greater feeling than placing that check, visually seeing what you have tackled for the day.
Managing your daily routine and interruptions will help reduce the amount of time you spend distracted from your to do list. Do you spend unnecessary time on the Internet, Facebook, or the phone? Do people ask you to do favors or errands for them unexpectedly? If so, this is when you have to distinguish what is more important to get done. If the interruptions end up being of significance, simply add it to your list and then prioritize your list once again.
Use a calendar or a small planner to keep you organized. Writing things down and visually seeing what needs to get accomplished that day, that week, or even that month will give you a better understanding of where your time goes and how much of it you have to offer.
Just remember the key in life is balance. Sometimes our to do lists aren’t always filled with exciting things, don’t let it overwhelm you or get you down. Make sure you leave a little space to pencil in some enjoyable time, whether it be spending time with your friends, family, or doing something that you personally love!
